Saudi Arabia Announces 4-Day Eid Al-Fitr Holiday

Saudi Arabia has announced a 4-day holiday for the private and non-profit sectors to celebrate Eid Al-Fitr.

The Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development said that Eid Al-Fitr holiday will start after the workday on Saturday, March 29, 2025, and will run for four days until employees return to their work on Thursday, April 3, 2025.

Moreover, the Ministry urged employers to comply with the guidelines of Article 24 of the Labor Law, mandating paid leave and compensatory pay for employees working on official holidays.

Eid Al-Fitr is an Islamic holiday marking the end of Ramadan. It is a celebration of breaking the fast, featuring traditions and cultural practices. In Saudi Arabia, Eid Al-Fitr celebrations are a revival of old traditions.

After Eid prayers, Saudis exchange greetings, visits and gifts. They wear new clothes, cook traditional dishes and drink Saudi coffee. Families and friends gather in homes or outdoor places to enjoy Eid festivities.

Eid Al-Fitr celebrations in Saudi Arabia strengthen family bonds and social ties, in addition to highlighting the Kingdom’s cultural heritage. All regions across the Kingdom organize events and festivities to celebrate Eid. These include music concerts, firework shows, theatrical performances and entertainment activities.

The Eid holiday coincides with the Saudi weekend, granting private sector employees two additional days to celebrate the end of Ramadan. This extended holiday provides an unmissable opportunity for locals and residents to travel, join family gatherings, or participate in various Eid celebrations across the Kingdom.
