A Journey to Amaala: A Luxurious Wellness Destination Shining on the Global Tourism Map

The Red Sea Development Company, developer of one of the world’s most ambitious tourism destinations, announced significant progress in the development of Amaala, a new luxury wellness destination aimed at empowering individuals to live healthy and exceptional lives.
Amaala: Inspired by the Purity of the Red Sea
Drawing inspiration from the pristine Red Sea, Amaala reimagines the concept of coastal living with spaces designed for deep connection with nature, self, and community. The destination seamlessly integrates spaces to enhance the well-being of both humans and nature. This includes everything from medical and integrative healing, adventures under the golden sun, and world-class art and events, according to the Red Sea Development Company’s official website.
The Red Sea Development Company has awarded over 600 contracts worth approximately SAR 23 billion (USD 6.13 billion) to prominent local and international partners, including: Al-Rawabi Hassan Alam, Shapoorji Pallonji Group, DEPA Group, Alec Engineering & Contracting, Havelock One, and Al-Ayuni Investment & Contracting.
These partners collaborate with The Red Sea Development Company in achieving its ambitious vision of developing luxury destinations. They are committed to responsible development practices, focusing on regenerative initiatives and fostering effective partnerships with local communities.
As construction progresses, key areas in Amaala are nearing completion, bringing the destination closer to welcoming its first guests.
The Marina at Triple Bay
Foundation work at the “Econix Amaala Resort” has been completed, while construction on the concrete structure of the main “Boutique Village” hotel, apartments, and villas is nearing completion. This vibrant hub will soon offer visitors a unique experience featuring a charming promenade, luxurious restaurants, upscale boutiques, and lively year-round programs, all with breathtaking views of the Red Sea.
Key Areas in Amaala
- The Marina: The marina basin was flooded at the end of 2023, and contracts for floating piers and fixed surfaces have been awarded. The Red Sea Development Company is now putting the finishing touches on this prominent landmark.
- Amaala Yacht Club: Construction contracts have been awarded for the entire project. Concrete work is nearing completion, and work has begun on steel structures, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Corallium Marine Life Centre: Steel and facade work at the Red Sea Development Company’s marine life centeris progressing rapidly. The distinctive building, inspired by coral reefs, is beginning to take shape.
- The Wellness Resort Area: Construction of the 220 buildings in this area is 80% complete. This center houses world-class wellness resorts like the “Jaya Spa & Wellness Resort” and the “Clinique La Prairie Health Center,” providing guests with an ideal environment to enhance their mental and physical well-being.
Resort and Residential Developments
The resorts and residences in Amaala include:
- Middle Triple Bay Area: Construction of renowned global resorts and residences in this area is progressing according to schedule. “Rosewood Amaala” and “Six Senses Amaala” are both more than two-thirds complete.
- Four Seasons Amaala: Landscape design, mechanical and electrical systems, and façade work are underway. These resorts are scheduled to open in 2025, serving as a key part of Amaala’s wellness and lifestyle ecosystem. They will offer guests access to some of the world’s best brands in hospitality, wellness, and leisure.
- Ocean Golf Course: Amaala will be home to three 9-hole golf courses, as well as a 9-hole par-3 executive golf course. The first phase of development includes 18 holes.
Major work on three holes has been completed, and work is underway to finish the remaining 15 holes. These courses provide visitors with an enjoyable sporting experience in a luxurious setting with breathtaking sea views.
The Red Sea Development Company
Construction is nearing completion, including 35 kilometers of internal roads, along with energy, water, irrigation, and communication infrastructure. The Red Sea Development Company aims to commission the energy plant in December 2024.
The Red Sea Development Company expects to plant 3 million plants and trees before the end of the year.
Earlier this year, the Ministry of Health approved the design for the Amaala Hospital, which will provide healthcare services to residents and visitors in the destination, which spans 4,200 square kilometers.
Once complete, Amaala will feature approximately 4,000 hotel rooms in 30 hotels, and around 1,200 luxury residential units, apartments, and villas. It will also boast a wide range of upscale retail outlets, fine dining restaurants, recreation centers, and entertainment facilities.
The destination is fully reliant on solar energy, which will result in a reduction of half a million tons of carbon emissions annually.
