The Kestrel Falcon is one of the most widespread bird species within Saudi Arabia, particularly thriving in the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve. This agile bird adapts well to the reserve’s diverse environments, from vast deserts to rugged mountains. Recognized for its small size, lightweight build, and swift flight, the Kestrel is distinguished by its strikingly varied coloration.
The King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority has pledged to join the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Green List, focusing on safeguarding natural resources, restoring ecological balance, protecting endangered wildlife, and promoting sustainable biodiversity.
Moreover, the reserve supports over 290 bird species, 88% of which are migratory and 12% permanent residents. This accounts for 58% of all bird species recorded in the Kingdom.
As the largest reserve in Saudi Arabia, the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve spans four administrative regions: Hail, Tabuk, Al-Jouf, and the Northern Borders, underscoring its significance as a vital hub for conservation and biodiversity.
