Al-Ruddaf Park: Vibrant Oasis in the Heart of History

Al-Ruddaf Park, the main haven for residents and visitors, is located in the heart of the historic city of Taif.
The park features ancient Thamudic inscriptions on its towering rocks, telling stories of legends and ancestors.
These inscriptions offer a glimpse into the site’s rich history, inviting visitors to explore and decipher its mysteries.
The Thamudic inscriptions in Al-Ruddaf Park connect the present to ancient times, allowing us to touch their history carved among the ancient trees.
These inscriptions show that Al-Ruddaf Park is both an archaeological and recreational site, preserving many inscriptions and rock art across its short mountains.

Historian Abdullah Al-Saeed told the Saudi Press Agency that Taif is an integral part of history from ancient times. Its roses reflect its heritage and history.
Taif is one of the oldest cities in the Arabian Peninsula, known as the third urban centre before Islam, after Mecca and Medina. Its history spans over two thousand years.
Taif’s strategic location made it a commercial hub and a route for ancient journeys, reflected in its archaeological sites narrating the city’s deep-rooted history and civilization.
Sa’eed also explained that Taif and Majda highlight their archaeological sites, not the other way around.
These sites are represented by inscriptions and rock carvings scattered across mountains and valleys.
Taif retains a large number of Islamic inscription sites, varying across many locations and places. Among these, the Al-Ruddaf site and its recreational park are considered some of the most prominent archaeological sites due to the vast number of inscriptions they contain.
He pointed out that the name “Al-Ruddaf” was given due to the way its granite stones and rocks are layered on top of each other.
