The National Center for Research and Development of Sustainable Agriculture is launching a groundbreaking initiative to distribute 15,000 seedlings to farmers. These seedlings were propagated using plant tissue culture technology and are distinguished by their high concentration of essential oils and remarkable uniformity and quality, thereby promoting sustainability and productivity in the agricultural sector. This initiative is being introduced as part of the Center’s participation in the Global Rose and Aromatic Plants Forum in Taif.

This effort supports the objectives of the National Plan, which aims to achieve the production of two billion roses by 2026, and to expand local production through modern technologies and best agricultural practices. Additionally, the goal is to improve farming efficiency, optimize water usage, encourage agricultural investment, and enhance the quality of agricultural output across the Kingdom.

The Center continues to play a pivotal role in this field by offering technical and advisory support to farmers and organizing specialized workshops on cultivating and propagating Taif roses. Moreover, these efforts aim to transfer knowledge, introduce modern techniques. They improve agricultural practices, and enable farmers to adopt effective and sustainable methods.
Additionally, in 2024, the Center distributed more than 70,000 diverse seedlings, supporting the expansion of sustainable agriculture and enhancing plant diversity within the sector.
