The Riyadh Art Program has announced the participating artists at the 6th Tuwaiq International Sculpture Symposium, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Set to take place at ROSHN Waterfront (RWF), the symposium will run from January 15 to February 8, 2025. Themed “From Time to Time: The Pleasure of the Journey in Its Difficulties,” the event will feature a follow-up exhibition showcasing the completed sculptures from February 12 to 24.

The Tuwaiq International Sculpture Symposium seeks to bolster the artistic and cultural exchange through promising partnerships, workshops, as well as panel discussions. Furthermore, it seeks to integrate artistic practices into Riyadh’s cultural landscape, as part of the Riyadh Art Program.

The sixth edition will be curated by architect and artist Sebastián Betancur-Montoya and sculpture specialist Dr. Manal Al-Harbi. “We celebrate the constant challenges faced by artists this year. These challenges are a major source of inspiration, allowing everyone to create a legacy that bridges the past, present, and future in innovative and humane ways,” Betancur-Montoya said.

Interestingly, the registration process has witnessed a wide turnout with more than 750 applications from 80 countries around the world. Then, an independent committee of art and sculpture experts has evaluated the applications and then picked up 30 artists from 23 countries.

The participating artists will participate in creating public art sculptures through the use of stones from the Kingdom to be part of the cultural artistic scene in Riyadh.
