Saudi Arabia has achieved the world’s highest rate of RPKI Route Origin Validation (RPKI RoV) adoption, reaching 99.8%, according to the latest measurements by the Asia-Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC), the organization responsible for managing and distributing Internet number resources across the Asia-Pacific region.
According to the Communications, Space and Technology Commission, the Kingdom’s global lead reflects the telecommunications sector’s commitment to adopting international best practices. It also strengthens Saudi Arabia’s position in global rankings and supports the continued development of a more mature, reliable, and secure Internet infrastructure.
How Technology Works
RPKI RoV helps ensure that Internet traffic is directed only to authorized networks, reducing the risk of data being misrouted to untrusted websites or online services. It adds a protective layer to digital infrastructure by limiting route hijacking and preventing users’ traffic from being redirected to unsafe destinations.
The technology forms part of the global Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI) framework, which is designed to secure the core routing protocol networks rely on to exchange Internet traffic.
Why It Matters
With a 99.8% activation rate, nearly all Internet traffic across Saudi Arabia’s national network is now covered by routing-validation mechanisms. This offers stronger protection for users browsing websites or accessing digital and financial services, while lowering the risk of connections being diverted to untrusted sources.
The result also underscores the growing maturity and security of Saudi Arabia’s Internet ecosystem. It reinforces the Kingdom’s standing as a regional and global digital hub at a time when cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation are becoming increasingly central to government and economic activity.
Building on Strong Digital Indicators
The achievement extends Saudi Arabia’s progress in strengthening its Internet ecosystem. The Kingdom ranks among the world’s top five countries in Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) adoption and leads G20 nations in Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) validation.

Taken together, these results highlight the coordinated national effort to develop digital infrastructure, safeguard Internet services, and maintain Saudi Arabia’s upward trajectory in global telecommunications and technology rankings.
