Early Date Harvest Campaign Kicks off in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Palms and Dates has launched its early date harvest season campaign, coinciding with the beginning of the year’s first fresh crop, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The initiative aims to support the seasonal calendar of early and mid-season dates across various regions, promote marketing opportunities, elevate the crop’s economic value, and enhance its contribution to the national economy.

Running from late May to September across Riyadh, Al-Ahsa, Madinah, Qassim, Al-Kharj, Qatif, Hail, and Jouf, the early date season features key varieties including sukkari, sagai, ruthana, barhi, and khalas.

Ahmed Al-Ayada, the center’s acting director general, said that the campaign seeks to raise awareness of harvest seasons and production regions, highlight Saudi date varieties, and encourage local consumption to support farmers and trade.

The campaign is ramping up its efforts to meet rising demand for local dates during the early harvest season, while linking markets with available varieties, supporting agricultural tourism, and strengthening market value alongside broader economic activity.
