WOAH Approves Saudi Arabia’s Rabies Control Program

The World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) has approved Saudi Arabia’s rabies control program after the Kingdom successfully met all technical requirements and international benchmarks, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Saudi Arabia has secured the accreditation during the 93rd General Session of the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), held in Paris with the participation of member states and international organizations concerned with animal health.

WOAH’s endorsement followed a comprehensive evaluation of the technical program developed by the National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases (Weqaa Center).

Built around an integrated and coordinated framework, the program aims to prevent and control dog-mediated rabies while ensuring full compliance with WOAH’s international standards and technical requirements.

By securing this official approval, the Kingdom reinforces its commitment to supporting the animal health system, aligning with global best practices for managing zoonotic diseases, and fostering public health protections against rabies.
