The coastal environment of Jazan is characterized by a distinctive ecological relationship between migrating flamingos and native mangrove forests, which serve as essential feeding grounds and temporary resting sites during seasonal migrations. The mangrove forests provide a rich habitat for marine microorganisms, algae, and crustaceans, which the birds feed on using their unique water-filtering behavior.

To safeguard this biodiversity, regional initiatives are actively engaged in planting mangrove trees and rehabilitating degraded coastal areas to expand vegetation cover. Supported by community-based afforestation campaigns, these sustainability efforts align with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 in environmental protection and resource development.

Beyond its scientific importance in studying bird migration routes, the striking convergence of flamingos and mangroves also adds a strong aesthetic and ecotourism dimension to the Jazan Region.
