The Diriyah Biennale Foundation is set to launch the “Upcycling Wonderground” event, as part of its Studio Youth program. The initiative will transform one of the biennale’s halls into a dynamic space filled with creativity and imagination, offering children the opportunity to explore innovative uses for exhibition materials ahead of the conclusion of the third edition of the Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale 2026.

JAX District
Taking place from June 4 to 6, 2026, in JAX District, the event will turn reclaimed materials from the biennale into cardboard kingdoms, imaginary characters, puppet parades, drawing stations, and creative caravans designed to combine learning with entertainment.

The program invites children and their families to step through the “Wonder Portal” into a world where discarded materials are given new life and imagination knows no limits. Moreover, activities are spread across three main spaces, beginning with the Wonder Portal, where children weave colorful fabric strips into a growing wall of 1,000 stories as part of a textile installation led by artist Noor Alwan.

Little Clown Atelier
Under the Big Top, artist Nour Hourani will lead the Little Clown Atelier workshops, introducing children to the art of clowning through movement and imagination while teaching them how to tell stories using expressive gestures and theatrical performance. The venue will also host daily stage productions of “The Three Billy Goats Gruff” and “The Boy Who Cried Wolf,” presented by Kan Yama Kan.

Meanwhile, the Wonder Factory will offer young participants the chance to create unusual inventions and fantastical creatures using reclaimed materials from the biennale, encouraging experimentation and creative thinking throughout the day.
The event is open to all visitors and welcomes children aged three and above. Additional information and registration details are available through the foundation’s official website.
