AlUla has gained international recognition, featuring on the 2026 Global Production Awards shortlist for the prestigious “City of Film” category, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Organized by Screen International, the world-renowned awards celebrate global excellence as well as sustainability in world film and TV production, locations, and studios. The winners will be announced during a high-profile ceremony at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2026.

This nomination underscores AlUla’s rapid ascent as a global cinematic hub. Its unique terrain and breathtaking landscapes have transformed the oasis city into a premier open-air set, attracting major production houses from around the world.
The site has hosted a surge of international and local features, television series, and visual projects in recent years, further establishing the city as a global film production destination.

Also fueling this growth is the “Film AlUla” initiative. Led by the Royal Commission for AlUla, the project features a state-of-the-art integrated studio complex designed to serve as a regional production powerhouse.
By offering comprehensive support across all stages of production, the initiative continues to bridge the gap between AlUla’s rich historical heritage and the demands of modern, large-scale filmmaking, aiming to position the city as a premier destination for global filmmakers.
