Diriyah Global Seminar Highlights Arabian Peninsula History, Oasis Heritage

The Diriyah Gate Development Authority inaugurated the Diriyah Global Seminar yesterday, bringing together leading scholars and specialists in Arabian Peninsula history, world history, and environmental studies.

The seminar seeks to advance academic research on Diriyah and the broader region, delve into its rich historical legacy, and underscore the global importance of oases.

During the opening session, Al-Ahsa Governor and Development Authority CEO Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr delivered a keynote address emphasizing the profound influence of nature on human identity. He highlighted the deep connection between Diriyah, Wadi Hanifah, and the Al-Ahsa Oasis.

Over the course of two days, the event offers lectures, panel discussions, and workshops that examine oases from multiple perspectives—from their geographical development to their intangible cultural heritage. Key topics include the environment’s role in sustainable development, the social contributions of tribes to oasis civilizations, modern technologies in heritage preservation, and water management practices in the Kingdom.
