Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has announced new rules banning food trucks from operating within residential neighborhoods as part of wider efforts to ensure public safety, the, according to Gulf News.
The ministry also barred mobile food vendors from parking near traffic lights, road intersections, or at the entrances and exits of main and secondary roads.
To reduce traffic disruptions, the regulations banned trucks from operating in high-traffic areas or within 10 meters of fuel stations.
The ministry has also unveiled a set of regulations to maintain public order including prohibiting smoking and the use of loudspeakers inside food trucks.
Therefore, food truck vendors are required to work only within designated zones and obtain the necessary approved permits.
Authorities clarified that the recent measures aim to better organize the growing mobile food sector and ensure the safety of pedestrians, motorists, and local residents.
The ministry urged businesses to abide by the new rules, stressing that authorities will carry out the enforcement in coordination with local municipalities.
