SDAIA Showcases AI Leadership at UN, Emphasizes Technology for Common Good

The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) took part in three high-level discussions yesterday during the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York, underscoring Saudi Arabia’s commitment to advancing artificial intelligence for global benefit.
In a session on leveraging AI, SDAIA highlighted the Kingdom’s progress in building a robust AI ecosystem. The authority emphasized its focus on developing human capital through the National Occupational Standard Framework for Data & AI, designed to ensure Saudi talent meets international benchmarks. SDAIA also presented the Saudi Academic Framework for AI Qualifications, which aligns academic and training programs with labor market needs.

During another session, SDAIA shared the tangible, positive effects of the Kingdom’s AI strategies on citizens and residents. It noted that Saudi Arabia’s National Strategy for Data & AI earned first place globally in the government strategy category of the Global AI Index. SDAIA also showcased national digital solutions such as Tawakkalna, an all-in-one app offering more than 1,000 services and recipient of the 2022 UN Public Service Award. Additionally, SDAIA highlighted the National Data Bank, which integrates over 380 government systems and has generated savings and revenues exceeding SAR 51 billion.

In a separate discussion, SDAIA explored how small businesses can harness AI to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs. The authority explained that automation, smart deployment, and data-driven decision-making can deliver savings of 10% to 30% across various functions.
