Aseer Emerges as Prominent Cultural Tourism Destination in 2024

Aseer has made major strides toward establishing its position as a leading destination for cultural tourism, achieving remarkable progress in attracting tourists in 2024, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

According to the Report on the State of Culture in the Kingdom 2024, Asser Region came in the second place in domestic tourist trips related to cultural events and festivals, with over 1.9 million trips. Meanwhile, Riyadh secured the top spot with 3.7 million trips.

Moreover, the report, issued by the Saudi Ministry of Culture, noted that Aseer ranked third in tourist trips focused on visits to historical, heritage, and archaeological sites, with 920,000 trips. This figure emphasizes the region’s strong presence on the national cultural tourism map, alongside Riyadh and Madinah.

The flourishing cultural tourism in Aseer highlights the diversity of the region’s attractions and their connection to its natural and environmental features.

In the light of this, the report said that events and activities held in mountainous cities and governorates such as Abha, Namas, Tanomah, and Rijal Almaa have become main destinations for local tourists, in line with a growing trend of demand for cultural and heritage experiences.

These positive indicators align with the vision of the Saudi Culture Ministry and Aseer Region Development Authority to promote culture as a driver of economy and tourism and advance the objectives of Vision 2030 to solidify Aseer’s status as a prominent cultural and tourist destination both locally and internationally.
