Saudi Students Secure Six Medals at 2025 Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad

Saudi students have achieved a remarkable international feat, earning six medals at the 29th Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad (JBMO 2025), held in North Macedonia from June 24 to 29. The competition brought together 135 students from 23 countries.

The Saudi delegation claimed two gold, two silver, and two bronze medals, underscoring the nation’s growing presence and excellence in global academic competitions.

This achievement is the result of years of dedicated preparation by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. Moreover,  the students were chosen through the National Program for Gifted Identification and underwent intensive training in specialized scientific camps led by top-tier local and international educators.

This year marks Saudi Arabia’s 14th participation in the JBMO, increasing its overall medal tally to 11 gold, 24 silver, and 29 bronze medals—a testament to the country’s consistent progress and commitment to nurturing young talent. In contrast, last year’s JBMO saw the Kingdom take home one silver and four bronze medals.

Established in 1997 in the former Yugoslavia, the JBMO is one of the most prestigious regional mathematics competitions for students under 15.Finally, it is hosted annually by Balkan countries and Cyprus, with each nation allowed up to six participants.
