Weqaa Center Holds Emergency Response Drills to Bolster Hajj Health Security

As part of its preparations for the 1446 Hajj season, the National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases (Weqaa Center) carried out two emergency response simulations in the Makkah Region.

These exercises focused on strengthening plant and animal health measures and were conducted in coordination with several key authorities to improve field readiness, disease and pest response efficiency, and inter-agency collaboration.

The first drill simulated the detection of desert locusts in Muzdalifah, where specialized teams were deployed for surveillance, control, and situation assessment. The second scenario involved a suspected animal disease outbreak at the Project for the Utilization of Hady and Adahi, triggering the activation of Weqaa’s emergency response plan. Teams conducted thorough investigations and implemented control strategies in partnership with relevant agencies.
