Saudi Arabia’s Roads General Authority (RGA) and the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wrth) have launched the “Wrth Saudi” initiative, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
In line with “The Year of Handicrafts,” the initiative aims to celebrate authentic national crafts through informational signs along highways across the Kingdom.
The first phase of the initiative has installed signs on three major highways, as follows:
- Riyadh–Dammam Road
- Hijra Road (Makkah–Madinah)
- Riyadh–Qassim Road
The future phases will involve several other vital roads across the Kingdom.

By launching this initiative, the Kingdom offers a valuable opportunity to promote cultural heritage and traditional craftsmanship.
The signs highlight the unique traditional arts for each region showcasing several crafts, as follows:
- Najdi door-making
- Clay construction
- Carpentry and wood decoration
- The bisht
The initiative represents an integral part of the efforts of the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts to preserve Saudi national identity.
