Hook Fishing: Beloved Pastime in Haql Governorate

Fishing is one of the oldest activities practiced by humans in the Kingdom in particular and the world in general to earn a living. However, many young people currently practice it for recreational purposes and as an activity through which they find their way to train themselves to be patient and anticipate the enjoyable moments of fishing.
The seafronts of Haql Governorate attract many fishing enthusiasts, especially after the improvement of the weather and the decrease in temperatures. These seafronts have become filled with fishing enthusiasts with the fishing rod, which requires its user to master some of its arts, starting with choosing the appropriate rod, the appropriate size of the line, placing the bait, the time of fishing, and its location, which is very important.
Abdullah Abu Al-Ezz, a fishing enthusiast, told the Saudi Press Agency: “We go to the seafronts and try to catch fish with a hook. This is an easy, enjoyable and difficult method, as the hook user must choose the right place to fish. Sometimes we are successful and catch what God has decreed of sustenance, and sometimes we are not successful, and sometimes we catch Sharani, Dagham, Bayadh and other fish.”
