In Celebration of International Women Day.. Saudi Arabian Female Blooming!

Remarkable Strides in Politics, Labor Market, Science, Sports, Entertainment & More

While the whole world was celebrating the International Women day on March 8, Saudi Arabian women, mark about 50 % of Saudi society, currently felt prosperity, calmness and empowerment enjoying their rightful place in society after the kingdom’s leadership has come a long way to support females and improve gender equality at all levels, in alignment with ‘Vision 2030’, introduced by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Here are incredible achievements of some female figures who were a fundamental part of the recent developmental movement witnessed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

5 Saudi Women Represent KSA Abroad

Five Saudi women were chosen to represent the Kingdom as ambassadors to countries around the world, including Princess Reema bint Bandar who was appointed as the Kingdom’s ambassador to the United States in 2019, then,  Amal al-Moallimi was appointed as Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Norway in 2020.

Later in April 2021, Inas al-Shahwan was appointed to represent the kingdom as Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Sweden and Iceland.

On January 3, 2023, both Haifa al-Jadea and Nisreen bint Hamad al-Shibel were chosen to take over as ambassador and head of the Kingdom’s mission to the European Union, European Atomic Energy Community (EAEC) and Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Finland successively.

Space-scince

In the first-of-its-kind leadership position, Mishaal Ashemimry was chosen as vice president of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) in September 2022.

Also,In February of 2023, Saudi Arabia confirmed that Rayyanah Barnawi, as the  first Saudi female astronaut in space

will be joining the crew of the AX-2 space mission launching from the United States in the second quarter of 2023.

Sports and Entertainment

Regarding to sports and entertainment domain, Ragad al-Naimi was Saudi Arabia’s first female professional boxer to make an international debut during the Jake Paul versus Tommy Fury card in Riyadh on February 21, 2023.

Driving The Haramain Express Train

In January 2023, 34 Saudi women were qualified enough to run the high-speed railway between Makkah and Madinah via Jeddah in the Kingdom’s western region.

Labor Market in Numbers

According to the Kingdom’s Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Saudi Arabia’s female labor participation reached 37 % in 2022.

The General Authority for Statistics stated that labor force among female Saudi citizens between the ages of 15 and 24 rose from 48 % in the second quarter 2022 to 50.1 % in the third one.

Unemployment rates among Saudi women decreased from 22.3% during the second quarter to 19.3% in 2022.
