Kingdom Strengthens Cultural Links at Beijing Book Fair

Saudi Arabia concluded its participation in the 32nd Beijing International Book Fair, held at the China National Convention Center from June 17 to 21, with a focus on expanding cultural and publishing ties with China.

The Saudi pavilion drew significant interest from visitors, highlighting the Kingdom’s efforts to promote its literature, publishing sector and cultural initiatives on the international stage.

Abdullatif Al-Wasel, chief executive of the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, said the participation helped showcase Saudi literature and culture while supporting the international reach of Saudi publishers.

He said the event also contributed to cultural and knowledge exchange between Saudi Arabia and China, strengthening cooperation in literature, publishing and translation.

According to Al-Wasel, the fair provided opportunities to develop professional partnerships and exchange expertise in areas including publishing, translation rights and content creation.

The King Abdulaziz Public Library also took part in the event, attracting visitors with a collection of Arabic and translated works covering scientific, cultural and intellectual subjects.

Its exhibition highlighted the library’s publishing, documentation and translation activities, as well as its role in supporting Arab and Islamic culture.

The library also presented a range of cultural projects and initiatives carried out in Saudi Arabia and abroad, alongside information about its more than three decades of work in promoting knowledge, supporting research and preserving cultural heritage.

Visitors were introduced to the library’s digital services and specialist projects focused on manuscripts, historical documents and archival collections, underscoring ongoing efforts to preserve cultural heritage while expanding access through modern technology.
