Saudi Arabia Celebrates Ramadan 2026

Saudi Arabia is observing the blessed month of Ramadan, after the Supreme Court announced sighting the crescent moon on the evening of February 17, marking the official commencement of the holy month on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar, holding a great spiritual significance for Muslims who fast from dawn until sunset, devoting most of their time to prayer, worship and charity.

Beyond its religious significance, the holy month is defined by rich cultural traditions and social customs. In Saudi Arabia, Ramadan serves as a vibrant celebration of both spiritual faith and communal solidarity.

Throughout Ramadan, the spirit of charity takes center stage in Saudi Arabia as communities organize Iftar tables at mosques and centers, providing meals, dates, and water to those in need.

Furthermore, the month is a deeply social season; families and friends unite for Iftar and Suhoor – the two main meals during Ramadan. People often exchange traditional dishes with neighbors to strengthen communal ties.

This atmosphere of hospitality is reflected in the streets, which are transformed by festive lanterns and bright lights to mark the celebration.
