Saudia Airlines has launched its first fully internet-enabled flight, marking the start of a pilot phase designed to test the service and gather feedback from passengers.
This initiative highlights Saudia’s dedication to enhancing the travel experience through advanced digital connectivity and high operational efficiency. Once fully rolled out, the service will be offered free of charge to all passengers, reinforcing Saudia’s commitment to digital transformation and the adoption of cutting-edge aviation technologies.
The new technology delivers a seamless, high-speed connection of up to 300 megabits per second, with the potential to exceed 800 Mbps in the future. Additionally, passengers can browse the internet, stream live content, and participate in virtual meetings without interruption. The system also supports multiple devices and enables smooth switching between them.

During the trial flight SV1044, Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saudi Arabian Airlines Corporation Saleh Al-Jasser and Eng. Ibrahim bin Abdulrahman Al-Omar, Director General of the Saudia Group, tested the service firsthand. They watched a live Saudi Pro League match at 35,000 feet, while the minister also conducted a live TV interview and a video call with Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha.
Minister Al-Jasser praised the new service, describing it as both a technological luxury and an essential component of Saudi Arabia’s aviation transformation program. He also called for the swift implementation of the service across Saudia’s entire fleet.

Eng. Al-Omar expressed pride in Saudia’s continued efforts to elevate the passenger experience through innovation. He confirmed that the internet service will soon be available to all cabin classes at no cost, reflecting Saudia’s vision of a fully connected digital journey.
Currently, around 20 aircraft are equipped with the new system, with plans to expand coverage to the entire Saudia fleet—including new additions—once all required legal procedures are completed.
