A great vacation begins with a great wardrobe. What you pack in terms of clothing may turn the trip around for you; it is about comfort, style and being prepared for anything which comes in your travels. A thought out vacation wardrobe is a collection of versatile pieces which you will rotate through from a morning of sightseeing to a night out.
Choosing Color Palette
When it comes to choosing colors for your vacation wardrobe, go for a coordinated palette. It is recommended to pick a few key neutral colors which are black, white, navy, or beige and then include one or two accent colors which really make the look pop. It’s a great way to put together many outfits from a small base of pieces which all go together perfectly. Also think of the destination you’ll be heading to, for a tropical get away, try bright corals and turquoises, for a city break, classic jewel tones or pastels will work best.
Textures for Depth
The mix of various textures is an easy way to bring out visual interest and depth in your ensembles without heft. For a summer look try out light weight linen in your tops and pants, a soft knit sweater for cooler evenings, or a silk dress for a touch of class. Also play with textural elements like a denim jacket thrown over a cotton dress, or a woven straw bag with a basic outfit which in turn will take your look to the next level and make it more put together and stylish.
Accessories and Charms
Accessories are the key element in a smart packer’s kit. They take up little space but in return they totally transform an outfit. A plain one of t-shirt and jeans can be elevated by a statement necklace or made casual with a baseball cap. Add in a multi use scarf that also works as a shawl or head wrap, a stylish belt for a cinched in dress or pants, and a variety of jewelry. Also include a pair of very comfortable yet stylish sandal options and a pair of dress up shoes that play well with multiple outfits.
Layering Pieces
Layered clothing is the way to go for different climates and temperature changes. Put together a smart layering system that which will transform with the weather; which piece you add or take off can means the difference between a cool morning and a warm afternoon. Include in your pack items that may be worn by themselves or layered up, like a denim jacket, a cardigan, or a light trench coat. Also very basic are a classic white t-shirt, a long sleeve shirt and a simple tank top which will form the base of many of your outfits.
Creating a suitable vacation is a practice which balances function with fashion. Through thoughtful choice of a unified color scheme, experimenting with textures, which also includes a certain amount of accessories, and the skill of layering, you can pack lightly yet still have a vast array of outfits. This in turn means you will spend less time in the mornings stressing over what to wear and more time which is better spent at your destination.
