GEA Chairman Emphasizes Saudi Support for Boxing, Riyadh Season

Turki Al Alshikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) and President of the Saudi Boxing Federation, reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s strong commitment to the sport of boxing. He underscored the significant support provided by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for both the Saudi Boxing Federation and the Riyadh Season initiative.

Speaking at a press conference in New York City during the global promotional tour for the highly anticipated bout between Mexican champion Canelo Alvarez and American star Terence Crawford, Al Alshikh announced that Netflix has secured exclusive broadcasting rights for the fight following discussions with several leading platforms.

Canelo praised Crawford, calling him one of the greatest fighters, and acknowledged that Al Alshikh played a key role in motivating him to accept the challenge. Crawford, meanwhile, emphasized his focus on the September 13 showdown, calling the timing ideal and vowing to deliver an unforgettable performance for fans.

Moreover, the media tour will wrap up on Friday in Las Vegas, with considerable international media attention expected as excitement builds around this headline super middleweight clash, a highlight of the Riyadh Season.
