Souk Market 2025 Features 40 Films, TV Projects at Red Sea Festival

The Red Sea International Film Festival has unveiled that its Souk Project Market 2025 will feature 40 film and television projects, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The list includes 24 projects in development and production, including 12 feature film projects from the Red Sea Labs program, in cooperation with the Torino Film Lab and supported by Film AlUla.

The upcoming edition also contains 12 additional projects set to receive specialized pitch training.

Moreover, it comprises eight feature films in post-production and eight drama series projects currently being developed within the Series Lab.

The selected projects show a rich diversity of narrative styles and creative visions, with women representing over 42% of participating filmmakers.

This year’s edition recorded a 35% increase in Asian submissions after the expansion of eligibility to filmmakers across Asia.

Therefore, the festival welcomed 18 directors presenting their debut feature films, as well as the several past market alumni returning with new projects.

The Red Sea Market received more than 1,900 applications from Saudi Arabia, Arab world, Asia, and Africa, all of which were assessed by a specialized international committee.

Interestingly, the selected projects will now undergo an intensive mentoring program in preparation for presenting them to industry partners during the festival this December.

All participating projects are eligible for cash awards from the Red Sea Fund, in addition to prizes offered by market partners to support cinema industry.
