AlUla Heritage Makes its Way to New York through Jean-Pierre Heim’s Drawings
AlUla’s authentic heritage has been on display at the Didier Aaron Gallery in New York, as part of the “Travelling Is An Art: The Drawings Of Jean-Pierre Heim” exhibition, taking place from May 29 to June 20, 2025.
Organized in coordination with Saudi Arabia’s Consulate in New York, the exhibition showcased a selection of Jean-Pierre Heim’s drawings that document the originality of the Kingdom’s archeological and cultural sites, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The exhibition dedicated June 2, 2025 for displaying drawings inspired by AlUla. On this occasion, Jean-Pierre Heim reflected on his experience in the region, which he visited multiple times.
Furthermore, he told SPA that his design philosophy is based on a profound respect for local culture and geography, emphasizing the vital role of integrating architectural concepts with the environment, history, and culture.
The “Travelling Is An Art: The Drawings Of Jean-Pierre Heim” exhibition showcases a collection of Heim’s expressive architectural drawings, which drew inspiration from his journeys to over 80 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Sudan, Jordan, Greece and China.

Heim’s drawings boast precise lines and vibrant colors, which reflect his personal view of archeological and historical sites, such as Hegra in Saudi Arabia’s AlUla – the Kingdom’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site which includes 111 well-preserved monumental tombs with decorated facades dating from the 1st century BC to the 1st century AD.
Established in 1923, the Didier Aaron Gallery is one of the world’s most prominent art galleries, with branches in Paris, New York and London.
